I lost 12.5 inches from my waist, hips, thighs, and arms!

A former competitive swimmer, practicing twice a day, at times totaling up to 5 hours, I was able to consume a lot of food without gaining a pound! My senior year in college I called it quits but my eating habits stayed the same. As result, I gained my “Freshman Fifteen” and then some, as a SENIOR! Now that swimming was no longer the calorie burning part of my life, it was growingly obvious I had to figure out how to eat, find a workout I enjoyed, and, for the first time in my life, how to manage my weight!

I started running, incorporating light swimming, but results were slow, tedious, and disappointing. In addition, when I thought my eating habits were under control and “healthy”, I was wrong. Frustrated, I became a gym rat, spending countless hours in the gym, trying every group workout class, etc., hoping to find something that would melt the weight away. In addition to ridiculous hours in the gym, I tried every diet on the market, but none contributed to the long-lasting body shaping results I desired. A running and a swimming routine helped me lose the first 10lbs, but not much more, and my diets contributed to losing and gaining 10-10lbs on several occasions. My life turned into a constant diet and weight battle, which I wanted to get under control. Growing tired of the yo-yo fluctuations, I realized the time for serious change was now.

In March of 2009, I received an invite to a BBX launch class. With nothing to lose, but time and weight, I convinced a friend to go with me and we hid in the back of the class. After a few minutes of instruction, I recall seeing Dede and the BBX team having a blast, which was unusual for me. I was under the traditional impression that workouts must be tedious and it was refreshing to see that they were working out AND having fun at the same time! Even though, I had no idea what I was doing during the class, the instruction was easy to follow, and I quickly became hooked! I loved the music, making it easy to regularly attend and, before you know it, the weight came started to come off, prompting the cancellation of my gym membership. I started seeing definition in my arms, which was purely AMAZING because I stopped lifting weights and was only working out for 1 hour a day! Free of the hamster treadmill, I became a regular BBX’er attending workshops focused on maximizing my time and effort. This is where I met Dede and learned more about her and the BBX program.

Fast forward to mid-2011, Dede mentioned joining the BBX Hardcore program. At a high level the program was simple and easy to follow focusing on changing the QUANTITY, frequency, and timing of my eating habits. I quickly learned that with the effectiveness of BBX and these small eating modifications would make a huge difference in results. As time passed, I realized this was NOT a diet and more of an outlined healthy eating plan. I was never starving myself or eating radical foods, it was actually the opposite, I enjoyed the plan, program, results, and energy! It was a lifestyle change and something that I could follow regularly.

During class, Dede motivated, encouraged, pushed, coached, and was dedicated to helping me achieve the results I desired. Her belief became contagious and I started believing I would be successful! Her determination, commitment, and persistence inspired me to work harder with the focus of reaching my personal goals. In the beginning of the program, I thought she had lost it and “gone nuts” as she would get right in my face and say “it’s just a game Darcy; don’t let it get to you!” or “you got to learn to love the pain!”. This type of coaching took me to the next level mentally and physically! It took me to a place where I was able to reflect and proudly recognize what we had accomplished.

I feel like I have been rejuvenated and blessed with a new outlook on life! I am very pleased with my new self, levels of confidence, mental strength and leaner body. Today, I have lost of 13.5lbs with 4.5% body fat and 12.5 inches from my waist, hips, thighs, and arms! I still look forward to working out and no longer feel the need to search for diets or spend countless hours in the gym. Those days are behind me and I am incredibly grateful to Dede for using her experience to create BBX & BBXHardcore. She has helped my personal development towards becoming a healthier, happier person and giving me tools to continue this success, because this journey is more than just working out!
